We're glad you're here to be a part of our story. The story of the Scottish Fold begins quietly, not in a show ring or breeding program, but on a small farm in Scotland.

In 1961, a white barn cat named Susie was noticed for something unusual, her ears folded gently forward, giving her a soft, owl-like expression unlike any other cat seen before. Susie wasn’t bred for this trait; it appeared naturally, the result of a spontaneous genetic variation. Local farmers William and Mary Ross were captivated by her distinctive look and gentle nature. When Susie later had kittens, some shared the same folded ears, and with thoughtful, careful breeding, the foundations of what we now know as the Scottish Fold were laid.

From those humble beginnings, the breed slowly gained recognition, not because it was flashy or extreme, but because it carried a unique softness, both in appearance and temperament. Over time, responsible breeders refined the Scottish Fold with a strong focus on health, balance, and wellbeing, ensuring the breed remained robust, affectionate, and suited to life as a companion.

Today, Scottish Folds are cherished around the world for their round faces, expressive eyes, and calm, people-focused personalities, but their story always traces back to Susie, the barn cat who quietly changed the course of feline history.
At Siratsa, we hold that origin story close. It reminds us that the most extraordinary things often begin simply, and that care, patience, and respect for the breed should always come first.
