Frequently asked Adoption questions

Considering welcoming a Siratsa kitten into your home? Here are some of the most common questions we receive from prospective families. We believe in transparency and want you to feel fully informed every step of the way.

What makes a Siratsa kitten the best mate for a new family? What's special about how you raise them?

What makes a Siratsa kitten such a special companion comes down to how they’re raised, and why. From the very beginning, our kittens are treated as family members, not as animals being prepared for sale. They’re born and raised inside our home, surrounded by everyday life, voices, visitors, dogs, birds, household noises and routines. That early, gentle exposure helps them grow into confident, relaxed kittens who are comfortable with people and new environments.

They’re handled and cuddled from their first days, spoken to constantly, and given the time and space to develop at their own pace. We place a huge emphasis on emotional wellbeing and temperament, because a kitten’s personality is what turns them into a true “best mate”.

By the time a Siratsa kitten joins a new family, they’re:

  • confident and people-focused
  • affectionate and emotionally secure
  • adaptable to change
  • and genuinely easy to live with

What truly sets Siratsa kittens apart is that they leave us already knowing what it means to be part of a family. That foundation creates strong bonds, smooth transitions, and lifelong companionship, which is exactly what we believe a family pet should be.

What special care or advice do you offer new kitten families once they take their Siratsa furball home?

Our support doesn’t end when your kitten goes home, in many ways, that’s when it really begins. We’re always available to our Siratsa families for guidance, reassurance and advice as your kitten settles into their new home. Whether it’s a feeding question, behaviour change, litter habits, health concern, or simply sharing an update, we’re never more than a message, email or phone call away.

We provide clear care information before collection and talk families through what to expect during the transition period, helping to minimise stress for both kitten and owners. If something feels unfamiliar or worrying, we encourage families to reach out, no question is ever “too small”.

If we don’t immediately know an answer, we’ll research it properly and consult with trusted veterinarians, geneticists or long-term breeders. Honest, evidence-based advice is something we take very seriously.

Most importantly, we care about how our kittens are doing long after they leave us. We love staying connected, celebrating milestones, and being part of our kittens’ lives as they grow into beloved family members.

That ongoing relationship and genuine aftercare is something many of our families tell us sets Siratsa apart, and it’s something we’re proud to stand behind.

What does someone need to do, step-by-step, if they're keen on adopting a kitten from Siratsa?

1) Reach Out

Send us a message via our socials or email with a short intro about:

  • your household (adults/children)
  • other pets (if any)
  • the type of kitten you’re hoping for (Fold/Scottish Shorthair, colour preferences, temperament)
  • your location (for travel/transport planning)
  • Why you'd make a fantastic home for one of our furbabies

2) Have a Quick Chat With Us

We’ll ask a few simple questions and answer yours too. This helps us make sure Siratsa is the right fit for you, and that your home is the right fit for one of our kittens. We care deeply about where our babies go.

3) Join the Waiting List

If we’re aligned, we’ll invite you to join our waiting list. At this stage we’ll confirm:

  • what you’re looking for
  • expected timing (based on planned litters)
  • pricing range and inclusions
  • and our terms (including non-refundable deposit policy)

4) Secure Your Place With a Deposit

A $220 /kitten deposit secures your position and allows us to plan our program responsibly around what families have asked for. Deposits are non-refundable (this is clearly outlined before payment).

5) Matching & Updates

When a suitable litter arrives, we begin matching kittens to families based on:

  • temperament
  • household suitability
  • and your preferences (as best as possible)

You’ll receive updates as your kitten grows and develops as time allows, and we’ll guide you through preparation and timing.

6) Finalisation & Paperwork

Before your kitten leaves us, we finalise:

  • your adoption paperwork
  • Preparing for arrival information
  • and collection or transport arrangements

We run a very organised process so families feel calm, informed, and supported.

7) Collection or Safe Transport

Families either collect in person from us at designated collection points or we assist with safe, well-planned transport options (including interstate) via air flights. Our priority is always the kitten’s comfort and safety.

8) Ongoing Support (You’re Part of Our Siratsa Family)

Our relationship doesn’t end at pickup day. We remain available for guidance and support after your kitten comes home, and we genuinely love receiving updates as your kitten grows.
